Bogatyr Helmet with his own hands - making beautiful and original armor from different materials

What kid does not imagine himself a hero of epic heroes? Who does not, in his dreams, sees himself with a sword in his hands on a beautiful horse destroying enemies? Naturally, most boys would love to imagine themselves as one of the heroes at a school event - Ilya Muromets, Dobrynia Nikitich or Alyosha Popovich.

There is no talk of a mighty horse, but it is quite possible to make such bogatyr accessories as a helmet, shield and sword at home.

Interesting Facts

Archaeological excavations have shown that primitive people began to protect the head. They used tree branches and animal skins for this purpose. The earliest images of helmets made of metal (gold and silver) date back to the third millennium BC.

The heavy-armed warrior (hoplite) of the Hellenic era would have been inconceivable without the Corinthian or Beothian types of helmet.

Helmets were used in Asia Minor, Oriental warriors, European knights, and Rus. In principle, it is an effective protection of the head survived to this day, having transformed into helmets of modern soldiers.

Bogatyr costume

As such, the special production of an outfit of a hero of epic proportions will not cause difficulties. In any closet will be found:

  • pants and shirt;
  • toy sword and shield;
  • belt and boots.

Instead of a cloak, you can throw on a piece of brightly colored fabric, fasten it with a sash and a brooch, and that's the whole outfit of a medieval warrior.

If the boy does not have a sword and shield, they are very easy to cut out of cardboard, paint and hand the defender of the Fatherland from enemies and mythical villains.

If the costume and the usual "weapons" is no problem, then the helmet requires some effort. But here, too, there is no need for any supernatural actions, special skills or acquisition of special materials and tools.

Helmet

To imagine an image of a Russian bogatyr without a special headdress protecting him from enemy swords and arrows is impossible. Before a parent making a costume of a medieval knight, there is a question of how to make a bogatyr helmet with your own hands?

Consider what exactly will be needed to make a plausible protective device.

Necessary materials

Fortunately, nothing out of the ordinary is needed for the helmet. All source materials and tools can be found at home:

  • plastic five-liter bottle;
  • quality glue;
  • disposable plastic cup;
  • scissors.

You will only have to spend money to buy water-resistant paint in silver or gold.

Workflow

Actions for the manufacture of the helmet do not represent any difficulty, even for a person who first decided on such a job.

  1. Cut off a part of the bottle so that it was suitable for the volume of the child's head.
  2. From the resulting blank, cut out a piece of plastic so as to expose the face bogatyr.
  3. A narrow long strip is cut out of a disposable cup to serve as a shield to protect the face of the knight from the blows of enemy swords.
  4. The helmet elements are fastened together with glue.
  5. The place where the cap is screwed to the bottle is covered with a piece of foil.
  6. Paint is applied to the helmet.

Important: Check to see if there are any nicks left on the cuts. If they are, so as not to hurt the child, cover them with several layers of tape.

The headpiece of the warrior is almost ready. It is necessary to make a chain mail covering the warrior's neck and shoulders.The basis for the chain mail can be a piece of cardboard, on which a felt-tip pen should be drawn small circles imitating steel links.

An even simpler way out can be the use of an old "bag" as protection for the neck and shoulders of a warrior.

The basis - old newspapers

A variant of making protection for the head from improvised material is possible. To do this, the following materials and tools will be needed:

  • a balloon;
  • centimeter;
  • plasticine;
  • Vaseline or hand cream;
  • glue and old newspapers;
  • sponge and mesh cloth;
  • Paint - black and silver.

Step by step instructions

The work should begin with measuring the circumference of the head of the child for whom the helmet is being made. Then the work on the helmet of a bogatyr from paper with his own hands is as follows:

  • A balloon is inflated to a size slightly larger than the future helmet;
  • The balloon is lubricated with gel or vaseline so that it can be easily separated from the papier-mache;
  • Carefully mark the outlines of the future helmet on the ball with a felt-tip pen;
  • Pieces of newspaper soaked in glue are glued to the outlined lines;
  • apply several layers to achieve the necessary volume;
  • Wait for each layer to dry completely before applying the next layer;
  • When the desired volume of the helmet is obtained, deflate the balloon (it is not recommended to puncture it, it can destroy the whole construction);
  • As the ball has been pre-lubricated, it will easily detach from the workpiece;
  • check the edges of the helmet and if you find any nicks, sand the workpiece;
  • After waiting for the last layer of papier-mache to dry completely, mix the rest of the newsprint with white paint and cover the helmet with the resulting composition, hiding all the irregularities and at the same time providing a light color for the headdress;
  • Soak a piece of sponge in black paint and start running it over the helmet, giving it a vintage look.

The same principle is used to make a helmet, but no longer from newspapers, but from foil. The only difference in the process will be that the paint will not have to be used, because the silver color of the foil and so will give the necessary elegance to the headdress.

Decorating

The blank blank is ready and you can start decorating.

Maybe your child wants to look like a Norman knight? Do not disappoint him - make horns and attach them to the helmet. That's all - your child can present at the matinee in the form of a medieval knight of Normandy.

You can additionally decorate some parts of the helmet with colored pencils or felt-tip pens and put it on a child's head.

Headwear made of cardboard

To make such a helmet you will need:

  • cardboard;
  • plasticine;
  • glue and scissors;
  • felt-tip pens and pencils;
  • centimeter.

Making

First you should measure the child's head. Then, making out the bogatyr helmet with his own hands out of cardboard, you should use a kind of pattern:

  • cut out, according to the size of the child's head, a ribbon up to ten centimeters wide and glue it as a hoop;
  • make a nose piece;
  • from cardboard to cut a couple of elements necessary to protect the face from oblique sword blows;
  • cut four narrow ribbons, which are glued over the hoop and fasten the construction;
  • Use plasticine to join the elements of the future helmet.

In addition to the helmet you can cut out of cardboard some rectangles, squares, connect them with string or glue, and make a real armor for a knight, as well as armbands and greaves.

Completely "chained" in the armor, the boy can safely go to the festive event.
