New Year's Wreath with your own hands - a step by step description of creating Christmas decorations

New Year's wreath is becoming more and more relevant decoration of the lazy-less or active festive days of the change of the year.

Such a handicraft will help to beautifully decorate an apartment or private home, create a festive decoration on the approach to the door, decorate the windows or unusually decorate the holiday table.

New Year's wreath with their own hands will not be the most difficult thing, even a child can make it with a little help from adult family members. The creative act will help to gather all the household members together, do a joint activity and create the most unusual wreath. By the way, it can also be presented as an unusual gift for the New Year or Christmas.

Materials

To make an attractive handicraft you will need:

  • wire, cardboard or hoop;
  • Tinsel, Christmas balls;
  • Cones, flexible branches, spruce legs, twigs with rowan berries;
  • nuts, candies;
  • bright ribbons;
  • Mandarins, apples, small pears (you can use real or artificial fruit).

Not all of the above should be used at the same time. Some of the items are used separately, some are combined with each other.

Frame

The greatest expenditure of time will require the creation of the base. In addition, this is the least fun thing to do. Although it can be made a fun activity, for example, arrange a competition, who will have the most accurate base.

To create the base you will need:

  • heavy cardboard, wire or Styrofoam;
  • scissors or a knife;
  • Pencil, compass, ruler.

The first point can be successfully replaced by a round embroidery hoop. They will help to make the neatest Christmas wreaths with their own hands. Master class work with other materials will help to make the basis without much effort.

First, you need to determine what the future wreath will be. Traditionally, it is made in a round shape, but nothing prevents to make an unusual oval, a charming heart or a completely non-standard star. The main thing is that the resulting product brings moral satisfaction to its future owners.

A piece of cardboard or a piece of foam plastic is drawn in the form of a donut with a hole inside. For ease of creation, the simplest drawing tools are used. Small imperfections in the future will cover the decor.

The wire is bent to turn out a circle, an oval, a star, and carefully fasten the corners, so that the frame does not unbend at the most inopportune moment.

To make the wreath lush, crumpled paper or newspapers are put on the base. Glue will help to fix them.

If you plan to hang a wreath on the door (and it is done so in most cases), it is necessary to attach a fastening loop to a frame. Twine or a piece of satin ribbon or wire can play its role.

Decorating

When the frame is ready, you can proceed to the most pleasant and creative part: the creation of the wreath itself.

Its design can be very diverse, here it all depends on the desire of the artist and the available material.

Traditional wreath

Tinsel and familiar Christmas toys can help to create the most traditional decoration of New Year's doors.

For this purpose, tinsel is wound on a frame, and in the gaps between it glue Christmas balls. If the handicraft is not intended for long-term use and will be disassembled after the holidays, you can just hang toys neatly on a fluffy ribbon, such as small paper clips.

To prevent the tinsel from disintegrating during use, glue the ends with a wide Scotch tape or use glue. Sometimes two or three kinds of tinsel are used. It can differ in color or width.

For fans of minimalism, you can leave small gaps between the layers, but in this case, the base must have a flawless look.

The basic rule of creating such a decoration should be a combination of colors. It is better if the wreath will consist of no more than three tones of colorful design. Beautiful combinations will be:

  • green, red, gold;
  • blue, silver;
  • green, white, orange colors.

The finished wreath can be lightly embellished with a scarlet ribbon and left to dry, after which it is safe to hang as an attribute of the soon to be holiday.

A natural wreath

New Year's wreath from cones with their own hands will be an excellent decoration for the house, where they love everything natural.

Option 1. with branches

To create such a design element you will need to find:

  • Branches that will bend well. These can be twigs of birch, grapevine, willow twigs;
  • cones;
  • A beautiful bow or an ornate ribbon.

The branches are folded in a circle, another form with this material will be quite difficult to achieve. In order for the frame to hold better, the branches are additionally fastened with twine. In this case the wreath will be more accurate. If you want to achieve a certain spreading, use a vine or make the twine uneven in height.

Cones are attached to the top of the wreath with glue, and the very top is decorated with a brown bow or an elegant ribbon. And by the way, it is much more convenient to work with a glue gun.

Sometimes the work of own handmade creativity is additionally decorated with fir or pine branches, but because of the lack of moisture, the needles will quickly begin to crumble. Of course, bare branches will also look good, but the fallen needles will have to be collected long and painfully.

Variant 2: Only cones

In this case, the wreath is created only from cones. For this, cones are glued to the base, starting with the largest specimens. The middle part is filled with smaller elements.

If the handicraft will seem too boring, it can be variegated with the help of garland. Twinkling lights will definitely give the wreath a festive mood.

If you want to diversify the handicraft a little, between cones insert small branches of conifers or flaming branches of rowan trees.

Fluffy wreath

An unusual wreath can be made from pompoms. To do this, they are simply tied to a construction grid, cut out according to a template. The finished handicraft is fixed on a frame and hung up.

The spaces between the wool fluff can be filled with tinsel or combine pompoms and Christmas balls.

Beautiful decorations would be wreaths made of pieces of felt cut out in the form of leaves and balls.

Edible wreaths

An unusual decoration would be wreaths made of all kinds of deliciousness, most often they are made from small chocolates or candy. Usually, sweets are hidden in tinsel. But you can make a wreath out of candy alone. The only disadvantage of such a creation will be its rapid eating. Until the next year, the sweet craft is unlikely to survive.

Sometimes rowan brushes or artificial fruit-berries are used as decorations. Such handicrafts look very unusual and festive.

In general, a wreath can be woven from anything. Some creative individuals even use for this purpose ordinary burlap or colored paper, artificial flowers, tangerines and cinnamon sticks.
